Weekend at The Beach, Texans Pre-Season Opener, Tila Tequila gets a Facial...sort of

Spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon in Galveston with The Sports Talk 790 Surf School.  I have the utmost respect for surfing and surfers after this humbling experience.  It was the most difficult workout I've ever experienced.  It takes a ton of energy to carry your board out far enough to be able to "attempt" to mount your board and ride a wave.

The Texans dropped their pre-season opener to the Arizona Cardinals 19-16 Saturday night.  The score is not indicative of the domination by Houston.

Here's Three positives and three negatives about the game.

Positives

#1 The Texans 1st team was fantastic.  The offense scored both times they held the ball including a 44 yard TD strike from Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson.  The defense led by Mario Williams and Bernard Pollard was all over Arizona.  Mario bull rushed the Cardinals RT right into Leinert for a sack.

#2 Young defensive players like safety Troy Nolan and LB Daryl Sharpton made a ton of plays.  Sharpton should probably get some looks with the 1st team.

#3 After a rough 1st three snaps, Dan Orlovsky played pretty well .

Negatives

#1 RB is a problem after Arian Foster.  Ben Tate broke an ankle and is likely lost for the season.  Steve Slaton fumbled a ball at the goalline which should have put the Texans out in front 20-0.

#2 Trindon Holliday looked clueless as a kick/punt returner.

#3 I was not a big fan of Gary Kubiak's coaching decision at the end of the game.  I realize he probably did not want overtime, but he does have an ongoing kicking competition.  Is there a better way to determine whether a kicked can deliver under pressure than attempting a last second 50 yard FG?

Today we begin our countdown to College Football season with a preview of the #16 team in our Power 16, the defending ACC champion, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

As much as I would like to endorse throwing feces at Tila Tequila...I simply can't.  But apparently fans of the Insane Clown Possee did just that.
