Down with The Dome!

It's time to take Old Yeller out back and shoot 'em....

Every year someone tries to come up with a plan to save the Astrodome and every year Harris County sits there and does nothing.  This week the county revealed a ton of really dumb ideas like a planetarium and a ski slope (really a ski slope). http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/061510dnspodome.1dd6aed.html

As much as I would love to turn that waste dump into a casino, the time has come to face reality.  If Yankee stadium can dissappear and Tiger Stadium can dissappear, Why are Houstonians so dead set on keeping the dome?

The football team that played there has long since left town.  In your heart of hearts you know that your best baseball memories occurred in Downtown Houston.  None of you were at the UH-UCLA basketball game, Billy Jean-King/Bobby Riggs, or Muhammad Ali-Tex Cobb.  $900 million is a waste of money.  In your heart of hearts you know it's time.  It's time to turn that eye sore into dust.

Thanks for the Memories Dome!

Lost in the talks of which local college teams were ending up in which conference, was the role of the city of Houston and its television sets.  It appears that the Astros and Rockets need to renegotiate their television contracts may have helped keep the Big 12 together.

On a more uplifting note....One prominent NFL scribe has the Texans as the 4TH best team in the AFC right now behind Indianapolis, Baltimore, and San Diego.  http://tinyurl.com/2erxbzc
