Valentines Shopping at IW Marks, Bar-O-Lympics..NBA Contraction

We will be broadcasting live Thursday morning from IW Marks Jewelers 3841 Bellaire Boulevard. Shipleys Donuts will be bringing by some grub for the masses and someone is going to walk away with a $1,000 IW Marks gift certificate plus his and her watches to be given away every hour. If you promise to come out and join us, I promise to post more pictures like this.

Thursday Night is the 1st edition of the SportsTalk 790 Bar-O-Lympics at Coaches Sportsbar in Humble. http://sports790.com/pages/barolympics.html Why would you want to come? Well beyond your ability to win an Astros suite party and Wing Stop Gift Cards, you might just run into these competitors.

One of the topics of discussion during this weekend's NBA All Star Game is the possibility of contraction. The NBA's finances have come under heavy scrutiny with the upcoming collective bargaining agreement. Teams like Minnesota, Memphis, Sacramento, and Philadelphia are hemorraging money. While the Players Union might not be happy to give away between fifteen to sixty jobs the other option is a steep cut in player salaries similar to what happened 5 years ago in the NHL. (That's an ice hockey league hahaha.)

Just for the sake of argument to make my point, I will get rid of Minnesota, Memphis, New Orleans, and Milwaukee. The other 26 teams would then draft the remaining rosters in inverse order of the standings. Let's add players for each team and take a look at how you would improve the product.

1. New Jersey Nets - Chris Paul PG New Orleans

2. Golden State Warriors - Al Jefferson C Minnesota

3. Washington Wizards - Brandon Jennings PG Milwaukee

4. Sacramento Kings - Rudy Gay SF Memphis

5. Indiana Pacers - OJ Mayo PG Memphis

6. Detroit Pistons - Andrew Bogut C Milwaukee

7. NY Knicks - Ricky Rubio PG Minnesota

8. Philadelphia 76ers - Jonny Flynn PG Minnesota

9. LA Clippers - Kevin Love F Minnesota

10. Miami Heat - David West F New Orleans

11. Charlotte Bobcats - Zach Randolph F Memphis

12. Chicago Bulls - Marc Gasol C Memphis

13. Houston Rockets - Hasheem Thabeet C Memphis

14. Toronto Raptors - Emeka Okafor C New Orleans

15. Portland Trailblazers - Mike Conley PG Memphis

16. San Antonio Spurs - Corey Brewer SF Minnesota

17. Oklahoma City Thunder - Darren Collison PG New Orleans

18. Phoenix Suns - Ramon Sessions PG Minnesota

19. Dallas Mavericks - Michael Redd SG Milwaukee

Do you remember collecting Starting Lineup baseball action figures in the 80's? Here is a list of the 40 1st action figures from that era including a whopping EIGHT former Houston Astros.
