The Rockets and Knicks are closing in on a deal involving Tracy McGrady. Here's what it looks like:
NY receives Tracy McGrady, Brian Cook, and Joey Dorsey
Houston receives Jordan Hill, Al Harrington or Larry Hughes, Jared Jeffries, a 2010 2nd round pick, the ability to swap 1st round picks in 2011 and the Knicks #1 pick in 2012.
While the Rockets would essentially be knocked out of signing free agents this Summer they would be better equipped to make a trade. They would have close to $15 million in expiring contracts beyond Yao Ming's $17 million player option plus multiple draft picks and young assets.
The Rockets would also be banking on the Knicks stinking for a couple more seasons which is entirely possible.
As for the remainder of this season, Jordan Hill could potentially see some minutes at center while Al Harrington would give the team some off the bench scoring.
Glad to see Jay-Z and I agree on the "We are The World" remake...ie it sucks and is unneccessary.
